What we do

We create personalized Counted Cross-Stitch charts from photographs, calendar pages, magazine pictures, greeting cards, etc. We can turn your favorite picture into a chart from which you can create your own personal work of art. We can scan your photographs or we can work from digital images. You can mail us pictures to scan or you can send images to us by e-mail or you can point us to an image on the Interent that you might wish to use.

You can tell us how many stitches wide and/or high you would like for the finished chart to be, or if it's easier, just tell us the inches of width and/or height and also the stitch count of the fabric you wish to use and we'll figure out the number of stitches. If you are a more experienced stitcher and want to stitch "over two" stitches on a higher density fabric such as fine linen, we will also need to know this in order to take into account the "over two" factor.

Digital image files can be in any of the common image formats and JPG (or JPEG) is the most common. We can also extract images from Microsoft Word files or PowerPoint files, WordPerfect WPD files, or Adobe PDF files.
PLEASE NOTE: Please don't try to adjust image file pixel dimension to equal the desired stitch dimensions of your chart. We get much better results when we scale down larger images to meet the size we need for the chart, because if we need to do any image editing, we get better results by doing the editing in a file of larger dimensions and then scaling it down.

We can crop images to remove undesired areas and we can replace background areas with a solid color if desired.

For cross-stitch we make (1) Full color charts using as many colors as needed, (2) Sepia charts (8 or 10 brown shades), (3) Delft charts (9 blue shades), and (4) Black & White charts (shades of grey), and we can provide oval or circular cropping for portraits.

We use DMC Solid Embroidery Floss colors (453 colors available) for cross-stitch. In addition, for needle-point or crewel we can make charts to use DMC Tapestry wool (460 colors available), Paternayan Persian Yarn (418 colors available), and Elsa Williams Tapestry Wool (234 colors available).
